"How I Look Matters?" - Conducting Master Class - As an ensemble director, your body is the tool for artistic expression. How do you use your body to effectively convey the music on the page and the artistic interpretation from your head? No matter the style or musical complexity, our bodies serve as the conduit for communication, both for the good and bad. This masterclass will focus primarily on the conducting gesture, what it is communicating and what it has the potential to communicate. We will explore artistic movement that will empower your ensemble to effectively and artistically lead in worship.

Aaron Jackson
"More Than Just 'Run it Again': Effective and Efficient Rehearsal Strategies for Advancing Your Church Choir" - "How many times per week do you rehearse?" "How long are your rehearsals?" "How many pieces do you typically rehearse during your time?" "How can my choir ever sing this piece with only one rehearsal per week?"

From appropriate repertoire selection to effective rehearsal technique, the focus of this session will be to demonstrate helpful and efficient rehearsal methods that work, and will lead to successful performances and more importantly, meaningful moments of corporate worship. Rehearsal strategies highlighted will relate to score study, interpretation, pitch and rhythmic independence, dynamic energy, pacing, and text connection.

For the Minister of Music who is looking to do more than ‘run it again’ and wants to truly make the most of each rehearsal, this session will offer a fresh approach to the rehearsal process.
