Academic Papers
Purpose and Rationale
To enrich the intellectual and theological depth of the Southern Baptist Church Music Conference (SBCMC), we are introducing a new initiative designed to strengthen the academic dimension of our annual gathering. By incorporating an academic paper presentation component, the conference will provide a platform for scholars, ministers, educators, and students to share research and fresh insights related to worship, theology, and church music. This addition will not only highlight the importance of rigorous scholarship within our tradition but will also create meaningful opportunities for dialogue, collaboration, and continued growth. Our aim is to encourage participants to engage with current trends, historical perspectives, and theological reflections that shape the practice of worship, ultimately helping us pursue excellence in ministry and a deeper understanding of how music serves the life of the church.
